So, my nightmare is:
my computer dosent boot up...
i got a problem with my mouse
my computer freezup
my computer reboots etc...
well you can get rid of the nightmares by a 3 front attack with the help of vmware the 3 words are
virtualize, virtualize, virtualize.
get rid of fat pcs they are prone to let everybody done and got too many parts to you to handle like
a power supply (i've replaced as many as as they are stars)
disk drives dead
monitors
and last but not least memorys (dont get me started)
replace fat pcs with a clean version of windows xp and vmware view client and disable all linux dosent work because pcoip dosent work (yet)
when they burn out buy these options:
a zero client like evga good price great quality or wyse or now Cisco vxc 2200
or buy a monitor with zero client integration like a Samsung or a Fujitsu kill two birds one stone (for the user its a new monitor and a pc)
virtualize the servers and consolidate resources and put the money u saved and go buy a decent switch with POE the word you need to know is POE is the future Samsung is coming out with a monitor with poe imagine plug a network cable the mouse the keyboard thats it... when things can go wrong they will(Murphy's law) get rid of things that can go wrong...
imagine the power savings and the operations savings in a workstation enviroment and when windows 8 comes out its only a matter of replacing the master disk and compose... Vmwareview style!!!
get a contract yes buy leased IBM like i do its the best... 3 year contract when the contract ends you replace the hardware and cutting it costs get new servers...
you got to focus on the datacenter and get rid of the pcs and get zero clients
its the mainframe era again...
get a good phone system like Cisco
get blade servers theyre the best save space and power lower costs
get a good switch i advice is a 4506e i got mine 4 years now and i plan this year to buy a supervisor card thats it...
thats just my 2 cents

Windows Thin PC RC
So i was invited to do some testing on windows Thin Pc the beta version had many bugs and was frankly disappointing but when the RC came, i installed on vmware and for the heck of it installed Vmware client for Vmware view and got 5 pcs running in less than 30 minutes since installing windows and Vmware tools and Vmware client, creating the pool you name i did in less than 30 minutes so far users have been pleased with the speed its fast and on steroids with a diet it only occupies 2 gigs of disk space im in a lab test environment and i got to say im impressed.
