wireless sprawl
no i didnt make a mistake...
welcome to the age of mobility and BYOD and collaboration for the IT manager its not welcome its a waking nightmare, lets start at the beginning:
in our company we recently had to implement a project that required tablet use so i had to implement the wireless access to those tablets, we had some 4 access points for intermittent use, so i did a site survey measured the wireless aps calculated for 9 tablets the use and did web study and contacted suppliers and did those things that normally CIO does, and decided that for 6 ubnt ap-pros that fit the bill Cisco was toooooo expensive and the ubnts proved to be plug install and forget...
that's when the problems started now we have to provided guest access and the employees demand that wireless access to they're smartphones it took 2 months to pass from 9 tablets to 32 devices and growing by the day..
my advice is beware of wireless sprawl... i accounted only for 10 devices and some intermittent use...
but the ubnts proved to be unbreakable and unshaken and i saw one day 48 devices connected and 30 guests not a problem.
just my two cents...

Blackberry with Exchange Server 2013
BES does not work don't even bother you can search everything..
you have to change to bis and you thought well there's is always "owa" right? wrong...
you have to enable imap and change my entire network so blackberry server can reach exchange server.
heres how:
go to the firewall and enable 993 and 114 ports from outside to the middle firewall
i have a physical and software firewall.
in the middle firewall you must publish exchange server 2013 imap4 and pop3 and 993 ports
then go to the bis blackberry and you can say bye bye to 2 days work trying to get things to work.
but i did and it works bear in mind there's a 15 second delay between the send and receive in blackberry devices..

Exchange Server 2013
I've installed Exchange 2013 but first... let me tell you set up the story...
in my organization we had Exchange 2010 for some years now and i was experiencing some bugs in the search in my language Portuguese characters"~" "ç" "ã" and so fort.. i upgraded to exchange 2010 sp3 and it got REALLY worst.. the receipt starting to change from "lido" to "ler" and the search was unreliable in Portuguese .. 5 days latter the server went nuts... and the ibm storage could not handle it.. it was bought in 2008...
had to tape it and restore from tape and problems got much worse so i had to install exchange 2013 and let me tell it has no words that i can write in this blog that would not be immediately censored it has been 2 weeks and i've experienced:
cant send mails from one mailbox to another in the same org...
the connectors are too much...
windows xp and office 2010 are not compatible with 2013 period...
different forest office could not communicate ex: domainxpto1 and domainxpt02 outlook 2010 and 2013 could not communicate to the exchange 2013.
could not receive emails from a different sever"spam appliance"
could not send emails
it moves only ONE mail at a time and then goes to another mailbox and ONE mail etc...
etc...
WORST EXCHANGE EVER
exchange 2013 does not have a console and a GUI it as FUI "failed user interface" and the queue viewer does not offer much improvement.
had to enable logs
you cant have external dns enabled...
you cannot and repeat cannot disable ipv6 dont exchange 2013 relies ONLY on ipv6 for communications
exchange 4.5 was horrid but i at least it worked...
